Staff Picks April 2017

Megan is a baseball fan and is happy it is back so she recommends Sports Illustrated Kids Ballpark Cookbook. If you can’t go to the ballpark then check this book out and make some stadium favorites at home! In honor of Easter, my second pick is my favorite Easter book Max’s Chocolate Chicken by Rosemary Wells. A great story for the whole family.

Jane recommends The Everything Box by Richard Kadrey. I am a fan of Science Fiction writers that have a touch of humor in their stories. This was a funny story about a thief that has been hired to steal the box that when opened will begin the apocalypse and the angels and other beings that want the box, too.

Mary recommends Always by Sarah Jio. Torn between two men, Kailey Crane is faced with an impossible choice: embrace the bright future she has with her new fiancee, or dedicate herself to reclaiming a past love that may be gone forever. Also: The Hope Chest by Viola Shipman. The discovery of one woman’s heirloom hope chest unveils precious memories and helps three people who have each lost a part of themselves find joy once again.

Karen's reading The Private Lives of the Tudors by Tracy Borman. Uncovering the secrets of Britain’s Greatest Dynasty.

Susan's Stack: Money Magazine, Once in a Blue Moon Lodge by Lorna Landvick, Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi (Recipe Club cookbook), The Angel's Share (Bourbon King's series) by J. R. Ward, Bohemian Girl by Terese Sovoboda. After being sold by her father to an eccentric Indian to settle a gambling debt, Harriet escapes her Pawnee captor and begins a trek to find her father, meeting a variety of strange characters and encoutering odd situations along the way. Ties by Domenico Starnone. If you liked Italian author Elena Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend then you should like this.
