Amee: That’s Not How It Happened by Craig Thomas
Paige, a former journalist, writes a memoir of her older son’s life, who has Down Syndrome. The book is optioned for a movie with her husband chosen as the screenwriter. But each family member has a different perspective of what happens in their family life and not everything is picture perfect because life and people can be messy.
Jennifer: More Than Enough by Anna Quindlen
Polly, a high school teacher whose life is built around her longtime book club friends (who don’t read any books) and her veterinarian husband. When she receives an ancestry test kit as a playful surprise gift, it leads to a match she didn’t expect, which makes her rethink her family history and the people around her. The story delves into heavy subjects such as family, friendship, infertility, health decline and identity.
Karen: Solo Mio (DVD)
Groom is left at the alter and decides to enjoy his Roman honeymoon by himself. A very sweet and heartwarming story.
Dawn: The Mad Wife by Meagan Church
This book is about a 1950's housewife named Lulu whose perfect life begins to unravel after the birth of her second child. I'm sure many women of that time (and maybe today) felt the stress of expectations of perfection.
Megan: Goodnight George by Ann Danner
George is a lovable bulldog, but getting him to bed isn’t easy. Read this cute funny story and see how is family gets George to settle down and go to bed. Don’t miss George’s other stories. Meet George this summer at our Library on June 10th!
