Happy New Year!

Jennifer: Funny story by Emily Henry

This was one of my favorites by Emily Henry so far.  It's a relatable, hilarious and cathartic rom-com built around the struggle of making friends as an adult and the familial relationships that shape who we are. Daphne, a librarian, moved to her fiancé Peter’s hometown to start a life together. Daphne adores the way he tells their love story, but their life together comes to a screeching halt when he realizes he’s in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Daphne moves in with Petra’s ex fiancé, Miles, so Petra and Peter can move in together, leaving Daphne and Miles to put their lives back together. They do their best to coexist and avoid each other in the apartment, but eventually start to form a friendship due to their close quarters. This is an unexpected love story (by both the main characters and the reader) with a bit of romantic comedy sprinkled in along the way. Daphne and Miles’ stories are complicated, yet relatable, and we empathize with them because we all have our own friendships or relationships that come and go, and leave imprints on our lives, for better or worse.

Amee: Nox Winters and the Midnight Wolf by Rochelle Hassan (juvenile fiction)

Twins, Nox and Noah have never been separated.  That is until Noah became very ill and sent to live with an old family friend for help. Nox arrives for a visit but his anger has unexpected consequences for the duo. They along with help from new friends discover the Nightwood and hopefully a cure for Noah. An interesting and enjoyable adventure book.

Megan: Phil’s Big Day: A Groundhog’s Story by Liza Woodruff Everyone is excited for Phil’s big day except him.  His sister volunteers to help him practice. Will Phil be able to remember everything? Read and find out!

Dawn: Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda

A woman inherits her childhood home after her father passes away.  She uncovers family secrets explaining the mystery of her mother’s disappearance long ago.
