Amee: Death at the White Hart by Chris Chibnall

One of my favorite books to read is a mystery. I especially enjoy an English mystery with interesting secondary characters and excellent twists. This book fit the bill. Detective Nicola Bridge returns to her hometown for a quieter life with her family. However, her first case is a local man found dead in the road with a pair of stag antlers glued to his head.

Chibnall created the TV series Broadchurch. An exceptionally twisty, mystery television series with David Tennant and Olivia Colman.

Megan: Norman and the Smell of Adventure by Ryan T. Higgins

Norman and his best friend Mildred do everything together. One day Norman wants to go on an adventure. He asks Mildred to go but she doesn’t answer. Should Norman go or stay? Why won’t Mildred answer? Read and find out! If you are Bruce fans this book is a must read! It will make you laugh!

Dawn: James by Percival Everett.

James is a novel that is based on the story of Huckleberry Finn but from the viewpoint of Jim, his enslaved friend.

Jennifer: Boxcar Librarian by Brianna Labuskes.

Inspired by the fascinating, true history of Missoula’s Boxcar Library, the novel blends the story of courageous women in the rough and rowdy West with that of the power of standing together to fight for mine workers’ lives.

The story specifically follows three women whose lives intertwine in Montana during the Depression era. Millie Lang, a WPA editor, investigates a delay in the Montana guidebook project; Alice Monroe, a local librarian, creates the Boxcar Library to bring books to mining towns; and Colette Durand, a French-Canadian woman, is connected to the union movement and the Boxcar Library. Their stories converge as Millie uncovers a mystery surrounding Alice and the Boxcar Library, ultimately revealing a hidden history of conflict and the transformative power of stories.

Karen: Tough Luck by Sandra Dallas

Young girl and her brother head out west in search of their long lost father.
